Summer Institute for Spanish Teachers (SIST)
July 8 - July 24, 2018

The Institute of Spanish Studies, is pleased to offer its Summer Institute for Spanish Teachers from July 8 to July 24, 2018 in Valencia, Spain.

Participants will spend two weeks living with Spanish families and attending classes (45 contact hours), as well as visiting sites of cultural and historical significance, all the while enjoying interactions with native speakers. At the end of the session we will take a short tour to Andalucia (Cordoba and Granada).

Participants may earn three (3) graduate credits.

Teachers should check with their Board of Education to make certain that credits will be accepted.

Class Schedule and Course Descriptions:

Classes will be held from 9:00 to 1:30. Three courses will be offered and you may choose between Intermediate Spanish or Upper Intermediate/Advanced Spanish depending on your Spanish level.

Housing:

Participants will live with Spanish families in Valencia (one participant per family), where they will have three meals per day, laundry and cleaning once a week and enjoy interaction with native speakers. Our participants have cited the homestay as one of the best aspects of the program. Many of them keep in touch with their host family long after the program.

Participants who will not stay with host families arranged by the program must make arrangements to stay with native Spanish speakers. If the participant is a native Spanish speaker, then this requirement is not necessary. In all cases, the lodging arrangements must be such that there is opportunity to interact with Spaniards on a daily basis.
